Happy Valentine's Day!! |
I wonder how many guys truly like today? Can you imagine the pressure and expectation? This is one of those times I am *happy* to be a girl!!
Have us "Lovlies" so bought into the romantically portrayed version of love from tv and movies that we expect great fanfare and over the top gestures of devotion?? How about we simplify?
Guys, at the same time, us "Lovlies" want and need to feel special and adored and believe that you think we are the greatest thing since sliced bread!
Everyday should be a scaled down version of today. EVERYDAY, we should do something small to show our love. It is important and it is necessary.
Do you know your Love's love language? Do you know yours? Do you have any idea what I am talking about??
My love language is receiving gifts. Sounds superficial but it's not. My favorite thing is receiving gifts from people. It doesn't have to be lavish or expensive. In fact, it doesn't have to cost anything at all (I'm thinking of the card a sweet 5 year old made for me...makes me SMILE)! For me, it's the fact that someone thought of me while we were apart and took the time to do something sweet.
My Hubby's love language is words of affirmation. He wants to know I notice and appreciate the things he does for me. Easy because I absolutely DO!!
The 5 Love Languages is one of the best books I have ever read! It simplifies the action of love. If you are giving your Love gifts and can't understand why he/she says they feel unloved, maybe his/her language is quality time.
One of the great things about this book is that it doesn't just apply to your Love. Everyone has a love language and once you understand all 5, you can better communicate with your kids, your family, your friends.
I don't mean to sound like an infomercial for this book ~ The Five Love Languages...buy one TODAY! ~ but I've just been listening and reading and watching what people have to say about February 14. In my quest to simplify all of life, this book does that, in all of our relationships.
Here's hoping you do have a day filled with love and that you give more than you receive!!
MWAH,
Laura

I totally dislike Valentine's Day, I call myself the Valentine Grinch. Like you said it should include the 364 other days, not just one. Darryl's love language is words of affirmation too, mine is acts of service. Congrats on the 405 Moms Post!! That is awesome!
